Why not white?

As the caption says it all, this post is about why can't we wear white during festivals or any other auspicious events. This idea to create this post struck my mind when I went to choose an attire for the festive season and while I was shortlisting these two, my mom exclaimed that am I planning to wear white on Diwali? and I was like, why not!
While others choose outfits in a vivid color palette or metallic tones, wearing white will not just make you stand out but will also break the monotony of colorful outfits year after year. The main objective is to defy the notion about certain colors not suppose to be worn for festivities. Go ahead, and break that mould by styling it right!

For this look I paired a pristine white pintuck kurta along with a midi skirt with hints of gold & a sleek red border. Added a red & white striped stole & ethereal earrings with miniature pearl drops. Lastly a low bun adorned with marigold flowers. Because a jasmine gajra is too mainstream!

Modern Festive

Festive season definitely brings a much needed break from the tedious routine but for fashion enthusiasts like us it also gets styling conundrums along! With limited ethnic wear options the only way to stand out from the crowd is the way you style & accessorize your look.
According to me alot of us are a mix of two categories, while on one hand we love to attend card parties, visit fairs and more, at the same time we indulge in beautifying our homes and do preparations for the Diwali puja. Keeping the same blend in mind I decided to create a festive look but with a modern touch to it.

For this look I picked up a button down kurta with this pretty attractive peacock patch and color blocked it with these Saffron trousers with intricate self detailing. For footwear I chose comfort over fashion & slipped into these embroidered juttis.

By now you all must be aware about my intense love for jewellery but there is one thing that I never sported in my looks was a nose ring with a chai…

Amazon India Fashion Week SS17: Day 2

For the day two, I decided to follow the concept of Indian Handloom Textile with an amalgamation of #IndiaModernFestive theme and wore a quirky handpainted Silk saree, paired up with a classic off shoulder top. Ethnic fusion be my love, remember? To balance with the vivid pattern on the saree I decided to add oxblood accents in form of a clutch & a pair bluchers.

One thing that I planned to keep consistent for all five days was to sport beautiful statement jewelry. While on day one it was an oxidised silver necklace, here I wore exquisitely crafted Buddha earrings & a cobweb ring. Finally asymmetrical hairdo & eccentric sunglasses & I was good to go!
Day two began with Virtues by Viral, Ashish & Vikrant, who presented Mrs. Nair's High Tea with layered, flared and pleated dresses created using the traditional handlooms and weaves from Odisha. This was followed by Pinnacle by Shruti Sancheti's SS17 collection whose floral dresses, jackets and more created a …

Amazon India Fashion Week SS17: Day 1

The first two days of Amazon India Fashion Week were dedicated to the Indian Handloom textiles. Giving that amiss for the Day 1, I decided to stick to the #IndiaModernFestive theme and picked this beautiful embroidered shorts & paired it with this powder blue shirt with ruffle details (basically flip reversed) to add a modern vibe to the look. Added chunky jewelry in form of a necklace & a ring and finally tie-up flats to comfort me during all the running errands between the shows!

Geek Chic

My love for books began long time back during school when my mom used to borrow them from her office library. With time limit to return it back, the zeal to finish a book before the deadline left me anxious yet excited! But this phase made me fall in love with reading so much that today if I get engrossed in a book, I end up finishing it even in few hours.

So, when I saw this local book store, I knew I had to shoot one look here one day. Despite it being over crowded every single day we still managed to get a few decent shots.

Coming to the outfit, I have been looking for a co-ordinate set since quite some now & with all the failed attempts to find something to match up to my expectations, I decided to use my DIY skills.  I did a little embellishment on one shoulder of a plain grey tee for it to complement with the beautiful stone embroidered skirt. Zero jewellery since everything was already jewelled up. A pair of reading glasses & metallic pumps, and I was good to go!
