#FriendOfTheBride - Wedding

Coming the last part of this wedding series, and also the last post of 2015. Indian weddings are all about magnificent venues & glamorous outfits. For the wedding, I decided to play smart with the budget & did not opt for a ready-made outfit. So after a rigorous brainstorming finalized the fabrics & raw materials, even did knick knacks like pasting Swarovski beads on the dupatta, shortlisted the blouse design & trust me, I was more than happy with the end result. The satisfaction of seeing your hardwork being paid off is beyond words!  I chose this combination of red, blue & gold. Since the skirt was all gold with beautiful glitter work, I opted for a contrasting blouse in navy blue. And the red dupatta perfectly added the Indian wedding vibe to the outfit.  For the jewellery, I wanted to break the monotony of kundan, polki etc, so I picked this maang tikka for its modern twist. Since it was the statement piece, I kept the rest of the jewellery muted with Swarovski st…

#FriendOfTheBride - Cocktail

Cocktail is that one wedding ceremony where you get to ditch those heavy, glittery ethnic outfits & opt for sassy western gowns!
For this occasion, I chose a chic black number with side slits. The high round neck detailing, the soft pleats waist down and the blend of two different textures makes it more than just a simple dress.
According to me, a black dress is a must have in every girl's wardrobe. It effortlessly leaves a spectacular impression & is the perfect option when you are unable to decide as to what to wear.  Accessories really help in lifting an otherwise plain outfit. Moreover, when it is all black you get numerous options to choose from, and when styled correct you'll surely look beautiful!  I styled this dress with metallic gold tone in form of the belt & pointed heels. As for accessories, I wore these pearl statement earrings for that evening elegance. Soft curls & red lips to complete the look! As for the bride-to-be, she wore a stunning ball room …

#FriendOfTheBride - Mehendi

Out of all the wedding functions that we attend, according to me 'Mehendi' is the most colourful, crazzyy yet relaxed one, not just for the bridesmaids but also for the bride (yes, excluding 4 hours of pain in ass mehendi process)!
For the mehendi outfit, if you remember I chose this vibrant high & low kurta. I wanted to wear something that was not just easy to move around in but also glamorous. It had beautiful thread & mirror work & the yellow colour perfectly suited the theme.

The credit to these floral palazzos goes to my really close friend Esha who came to rescue & suggested me to get the bottoms customised, chose the perfect print, since I did not want to go for regular boring churidars & couldn't find absolutely anything ready-made.

Coming to the jewellery, I just wore these big Passa earrings, keeping the hands bare for mehendiii.. . I did a side braid with my hair & kept the make up simple with a winged liner & L'oreal Glamour Fuchs…

#FriendOfTheBride - Engagement

Lets be honest - at a wedding, apart from the bride, the next best dressed people, one looks forward to, are the sisters or friends of the bride! Right from the outfit to makeup to hair, everything has to be on-point without fail.

So, I decided to come up with a #FriendOfTheBride wedding series, basically an attempt to help those girls who are going haywire in search for the perfect outfits for every occasion.

My bestfriend is getting married, and for her engagement I chose a contemporary outfit. It's a beautiful Marsala hued floor length Anarkali, with intricate gota patti work waist up & a keyhole back. The high neck makes it stand out from the crowd!Paired it with polki earrings & a ring.

The bride to be, Anisha, looked really gorgeous in her olive green attire paired with chaandbalis. Effortlessly stylish! I absolutely loved her hair, a braided low bun accessorized with a Passa!

High & Low

High necks remind me of my childhood days when my mom used to get one for me in every possible colour. Since then it has been my beloved classic!
Considering that the weather is not really chilly, I opted for a thinner version and paired it along with this striped midi skirt. The deep color palette on the skirt elevated the look & added a vintage touch. Stepped into these lace-up ankle boots to give an edge to the feminine silhouette!  Accessorizing in winters is quite tricky. With all the layering and pile-ons, it's an unsaid fact that your coolest jewelry will spend the majority of the season hiding underneath your outerwear. That's when your chunky baubles comes to the rescue. Visible yet understated! OUTFIT DETAILS Top - H&M | Skirt - Zara | Shoes, Earrings - Thrifted

Suit Up

Err, 'Suit Up' immediately reminds us of Barney Stinson & How I Met Your Mother, but no, we are not talking about that today. ;)
This post is about the pant-suit trend that made a major comeback this year.
A sleek, streamlined suit will never disappoint you. You've got to be sure about the fabric quality & the fit (unless you are going for a boyfriend blazer).
I layered a self-tie blouse underneath the blazer which gave a perfect contrast to the attire.  Pairing sneakers with formal clothes injects an unexpected twist to the basic silhouettes.
To break the formality of the suit, I wore a pair of sneakers.
If done right it makes the outfit looks cool and edgy, but make sure you don't over do it. Opt for rather simple sneakers!

Added an oversized clutch & minimal accessories in silver tone.
Finished the look with subtle pink hue on the lips & a faux bob. Have been planning to go for a bob since reaallllyyy long, but still trying to muster the courage, till then …

Rebellious Winter

Despite the bitter temperature and lack of Vitamin D, the one thing you can smile about in winters is your wardrobe expertise. I am starting my winter dressing in a rough mode, with deep tones & a hairstyle incarnation!
Remixed leather (read: faux) and denim to create a rough & tough aesthetic while still keeping it sophisticated.

Wore an unbuttoned (with a knot) shirt over a camisole & layered the former with a faux leather jacket. Rolled up the sleeves to add these dainty stacked bracelets.

Paired it with denims with zipped hem & booties! Finally, a half up bun a.k.a HUN, round glasses & berry lips to amp up the look. OUTFIT DETAILS Jacket - Marks & Spencer | Shirt, Jeans - H&M | Camisole, Sunglasses, Bracelets - Forever 21 | Booties - Westside

Festive Spirits

I'll start with wishing *Happy Diwali* to you all!  Whenever we talk about Indian festivals, the outfits that strikes us first are lehenga, anarkali or may be a saree. Quite clich├ęd, I believe! So this year, I decided to stand out from the crowd & took the 'less is more' way. I picked this lehenga during my short trip to Jaipur long time back, only to never think of how & when to wear it.  Created a fusion look by pairing this Bandhani skirt with my staple white shirt, which according me did full justice to the festive season while being on a lighter side.  Added some oxidised drama to the whole attire with these chunky anklets, and combined two of my earrings to create these gorgeous pair of chandbalis. Finally, slipped into these traditional juttis to complete the look.
Subtle make-up & fishtail braid, and here, I was Diwali-ready! :)

Denim Dash

Summer is on it's last leg, days are still pretty warm & I am not missing any chance to wear a dress without weighing down under those heavy winter layers!

When it comes to denim, one always prefer to stick to their tried & tested denim shorts, jeans or may be, dungarees!
But in my case, I choose go for transitional pieces. May be this the reason why I bought this uber cool denim shirt dress.

I have always been gung-ho for shirt dresses. It is a timeless staple that flatters every body type, gives a very relaxed vibe & is effortlessly stylish. Pairing sneakers with feminine outfits is very much in-vogue these days. Considering the dress was on muted side, I dared to pair it with these neon sneakers, which gave an eclectic sporty-chic look! Chose to go minimal with accessories, so added this brooch. Trust me when I say that 'brooch' will definitely shine bright this Fall, since Balenciaga already indicated its return on their fall runways whereas it has always bee…
